In 2013 when we started CrossFit Banshee, we knew that we wanted to be a little different from other CrossFit gyms in the area. The CrossFit methodology is amazingly diverse but the application across many gyms is nearly identical. Most gyms offer group CrossFit classes around doing some form of strength or skill work followed by a METCON (metabolic conditioning workout). Some people see amazing changes with this simple application, but not everyone and not all the time. So when we opened our doors we wanted to be a little different.
Like Minded Individuals (LMI)
As the years went, we expanded our knowledge and abilities outside of the CrossFit mindset. Don’t get me wrong we still love it and practice ourselves, but there is more in the fitness world. With a more open view of fitness we needed to transition away from presenting CrossFit first mentality. So Like Minded Individuals Fitness (LMI Fitness) became the mantra. We want to help people that understand that there are MANY different fitness tools and that we can explore many of them as goals and life changes. We want to connect with people that understand that fitness and health is a LIFE long pursuit and understand that strength training, conditioning, nutrition, recovery, and lifestyle are all very important parts of the path (Like Minded).
Timing the Change
In March of 2020, the world changed drastically. All of a sudden everyone that relied upon the CrossFit Group fitness model was left to figure out how to maintain fitness…alone. EVERYONE needed new tools in their fitness toolbox.
LMI Fitness Approach
This is when CrossFit Banshee NEEDED to change. We determined that the one size fits most doesn’t work people. As lives change, needs for each person change with it. Sometimes we’re motivated and can easily get by doing things on our own. Sometimes we need a group of people to motivate us and keep us accountable. MOST of the time we need to practice and play more and compete in a group less. We are still CrossFit Banshee, but we are also SOOO much more.
