Making progress on any endeavor starts by knowing where you want to go. Creating and achieving goals is the life equivalent of Google Maps. In google you put in your destination, and a couple of options pop up on how to get there. Your goals will be the same way.
Here’s the deal. Not all of your goals need to be scary changes that will force you to live in ways that you can’t handle. Most goals shouldn’t. You’re going to have to live with the process of making your goals a reality.
Not only that, but setting and tracking goals will actually help motivate you when you achieve them, and also help hold you accountable when you need a little extra push. Besides having goals is the best way to make things your very own. You’ll feel more in control of your path and more quickly recognize (with practice) things that pull you away from your destination.
Not sure where to start? In our gym we like to use SMART goals.
These are goals that are
S – Simple Don’t make your goals super complicated that it takes a lot of explanation
M – Measurable You have to know that you met your goal or how close you are to meeting it
A – Achievable Setting goals that you constantly fail on will demotivate you. Build success.
R – Relevant Your goals need to mean something to you. When you don’t feel like it, this will push you to continue
T– Time Bound Putting a timeframe on your goal will help you determine the steps you need to take and give you some urgency to get them done
